What is sustainability? In accordance to Dictionary.com Sustainability is defined as “The quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance”. Sustainability does not have to be precisely that, but it can also be doing things such as maintaining a garden, upcycling a piece of rubbish or even making a campaign to broaden peoples knowledge of certain things of sustainability such as how much plastic we use in a week. Sustainability is not limited to certain things you can do anything to help sustainability something that goes on in my suburb is a community garden. You can meet new people and help plant things such as flowers or fruit trees, and while doing this, regular barbeques happen where everyone can talk as a community. Sustainability can mean something different to a different person, but each answer is linked to each other as it always refers back to the environment and figuring out ways we can help improve it. The next generation is relying on us to hand them a world that doesn’t have pollution all through the air and oceans with rubbish all through the seven oceans. We should be able to give them a world that they can enjoy living their life. Sustainability is a big issue in the world today as there are issues such as all the pollution that is contained in the air and we as a community need to figure out a way to reduce it so that it is not a massive problem and that we can have a healthy environment. The government does have an essential role as they can help come up with ideas and strategies as well as well as developing policies and programs for the issues involving sustainability. A well-managed government should be able to find a way around a challenge or obstacle that may occur while trying to implement a way to help the earth sustainability. The government can also help make informed decisions as well as investing in the ideas and strategies’ put forward by the people trying to make an impact as some of it may involve a cost. Sustainability is a big issue that the world is facing and even if you think doing something like upcycling can make a huge impact. In conclusion, sustainability is the earth ability to sustain life for future generations.

What is Sustainability?
Sustainability in its shortest form is "Sustaining the Earth and resources for future generations and current generation's needs." But sustainability is different in all areas, which are split up to personal, local, national and global. Each of these sections have an Economical, Environmental and Social impact on the Earth. As the years go by, technology and science improve and our view of sustainability changes with it.
Sustainability in its four areas all have a different idea of what should be done on the Earth. Sustainability to a person's self it is a lot different to a view of a local area. A person’s view would be the view that everything around the person should be sustained, such as the trees, plants and animals on the way to school or work should be clean, green along with clear blue skies. A local viewpoint sees the world as one that the local area of suburbs would see sustainability as keeping their electricity green and affordable and having species in their area in high numbers but not overflowing numbers. A National point of view sees the topic as one where the whole nation sees sustainability as a topic where the energy on the grid should be sustainable and having sustainable practices with materials and resources from the country. The Global view on sustainability is where everyone should be working together to stop practices that take resources from the Earth to provide an environmental, economic and social sustainability.
The 3 other sections of Sustainability are Economical, Environmental and Social and looking at what each of their impacts are. Economical sustainability is the act of sustaining the environment of the economic areas of each of the 4 view points above. Economical sustainability shows the different world views and why they have it due to money and imports and export demands. The Environmental action of sustaining the Earth is the most common action because most people see sustainability as this, the act of sustaining the Earth's biosphere and atmosphere. The last of the three is Social actions of sustainability is the action of sustaining the Social environment of different areas, these areas include gender, sexuality and social rights.
As technology and science evolve, the concept of sustainability does as well. The advancements in technology has shown us that what we can make can reverse what impacts humans have already made on the Earth and its animals and plant life.
Sustainability is the act of preserving resources for current and future generations. These also have a view from each area of people and the size of the group along with categories of areas to sustain.

Sustainability is the act of keeping the planet habitable for as long as possible for us and future generations to inhabit the earth for as long as is possible
This is not enough information and needs to be researched and referenced please read the requirements of the task.
The term sustainability is very simple and easy to understand but there are many definitions and meanings towards what the term sustainability means. The term sustainability is where the resources on earth and other important things that humans need in order to survive and sustain is where all things should be perfectly balanced to maintain the environment to be healthy, well, balanced for the present and the future. As to keep the sustainability term keep going and a real word in the dictionary for the future generations to know what it is, all children have the right to have continuous access to basic services and resources, such as safe, clean drinking water, sanitation, nutritious and healthy, clean foods, good health, good, quality education, clean air and safe clean energy. To be able for the world to be sustainable such as the Amazon forest for example, logging is a big thing for humans to sustain and live life well. Humans of course need wood and other sources to live and be safe in the needs, but other life such as animals live in the forest and sustain there as well, if humans take advantage and take out all the trees, there will be mass destruction and consequences. The consequences include the animals will die and lose their homes, the sources from the wood and water will be limited and take a very long time for the trees to grow back if planted, future generations will be affected from these actions, meaning the future generations will be in trouble and be affected from limited resources. This is when the term sustainability comes in and companies, people, and yourselves can help change and make the wold sustainable and well balanced from either over-fishing, deforestation, logging, hunting and other causes of destroying the earth, to be able to make the earth a sustainable place for the present and the future, there must be other ways and strategies to balance the use of resources and all living things to sustain life on earth for the better good.
This requires referencing and needs to be your own work.
the simple term of sustainability to keep the world usable for future generations so that our race can continue to progress. this is one of the many definitions that could be used for the word sustainability. to me sustainability is the act of preserving life by using the Earths resources in a manged and balanced procedure, at this very moment in time the Earth has not been looked after in a sustainable manner, a perfect example of this is the Great Barrier reef 20-15 years ago the great barrier reef was sight to behold with luscious, bright and healthy coral covering 2,600 kilometers of ocean floor, but if ou were to visit the barrier reef today, a large amount of what you'll find consists of bleached coral thanks to not only global warming but also the amount of tourists that would visit the reef daily. the great barrier reef may no longer be a significant sight by 2030 meaning that we have destroyed something fro future generations which go against the sustainable definition.

The definition of sustainability can be written in many ways, from EnvironmentalScience.org it can be seen as this, "Sustainability is the study of how natural systems function, remain diverse and produce everything it needs for the ecology to remain balanced". Overtime humanity has experienced damages to the environment by a civilization which has ended up affecting the chances of survival for those people. So we as humans must really educate ourselves on the words Sustainability and how important it is for each and every human to do their part in ensuring we don't damage our environment.
As humans we consume a lot of natural resources daily, we consume more power than than ever before. with having our buildings lit up all night, powering all our electronics and appliances, our heating and cooling systems. sustainability really zooms in on the idea that we must focus on the fine line between our need to move forward technologically and economically, and the needs to protect the environment in which we live.
Luckily many have shone a light on the issue we are facing and have developed these three pillars of sustainability; economic development, social development and environmental protection. All of these play a role in considering plans and ideas to make our world healthier and more sustainable. the are the 'back bone' on taking the core areas that the world faces.
As modern society is very advanced in science and technology, every day we see a growth in ways to make our world sustainable. We have all become significantly more aware because we now look at both natural and human causes of these issues. Sustainability is not just about the environment but ways we develop ourselves into a cleaner and smarter world.
What is sustainability?
The term sustainability is knowing how to take care off the earth and instead of making it worse we figuring out ways to make it better to preserve our earth for future generations. Sustainability is very important and should be made more aware because it contains lots of tasks we do daily effect our envirment like driving cars pollutes the earth so to decrease that people should walk or ride places more and that would also be exercise for those people.
In todays society we live with a large urban existence throughout the extreme developed world as we know it and we consume a lot of natural resources every day. So many food scrapes and unstainable wastage goes into our envirment each day. In Australia we use up way more power then those who live in a rural setting. But that's not saying only those people can live sustainably everyone should give it a try!
Goals of sustainability are
-The end of poverty and hunger
-Better standards of education and healthcare - particularly as it pertains to water quality and better sanitation
-To achieve gender equality
-Sustainable economic growth while promoting jobs and stronger economies
-All of the above and more while tackling the effects of climate change, pollution and other environmental factors that can harm and do harm people's health, livelihoods and lives.
-Sustainability to include health of the land, air and sea
Sustainability is not just about the environment, it's also about our health as a society in ensuring that no people or areas of life suffer as a result of environmental development, and it's also about examining the longer term effects of the actions humanity takes and asking questions about how it may be improved.
Get your sustain on!

Sustainability is the study of the natural system and how it functions. In the study of sustainability it includes the effects of certain animals or speices in an eviroment. It also includes how humans effect the enviroment around us. humans effect the eviroment positivley and nagativley. Satainability is also about trying to keep the enviroment stable. There are many goals to sustainability including ending povery and hunger, better education and healthcare, achieve gender equality and a healthier enviroment. For the longest time humans have been a cumsumer rather than a replenisher and only since the Neolithic Agricultural Revolution.
What is Sustainability?
The definition of “sustainability” can be interpreted in many different ways but, to me sustainability is how we study the natural systems function of the earth, how the environment remains diverse and produce everything it needs for the ecology to remain in balance. Sustainability also looks at how humans takes resources to sustain our modern way of life.
There are many examples throughout human history where a civilisation has damaged its own environment and seriously affected its own survival chances. Sustainability takes into account how we might live in harmony with the natural world around us, protecting it from damage and further destruction.
We live in a modern and largely urban developed world where we consume a lot of natural resources every day. In our urban centres, we consume more power than those who live in rural settings and urban areas use a lot more power than average, keeping our streets and civic buildings lit, to power our appliances, our heating and other public and household power requirements.
That's not to say that sustainable living should only focus on people who live in urban areas though, there are improvements to be made everywhere, it is estimated that we use about 40% more resources every year than we can put back, and that needs to change. Sustainability and sustainable development focuses on balancing that fine line between competing needs

What is sustainability?
Sustainability is the study of natural systems and their functions and how everything is produced for the ecology to survive in balance. The study also recognises that human civilisation is taking resources to sustain our life in a modern way.
Endless cases throughout human history illustrates our environment is being damaged and affected by our choices as people. Sustainability is making good choices so that we don’t cause destruction or damage to the world around us. This could be by conserving the amount of energy we use, using solar powered heaters/air-conditioning and reducing the amount of time we spend in the showers. Due to our urban living style we consume more power then those in rural areas. Sustainable living should be storing balance to the environment.
It can be described in three parts;
Environmental Protection - Being careful to keep balance to the environment and being alert about the negative impacts we have on it. For example, If you cut down the trees in an area make sure to plant new ones as you go.
Social Development - Humans need to be able to have access to natural and basic resources so that their condition in life is balanced too.
Economic Development - Sustainability can not benefit without economic development. Humans require economic resources too.
Sustainability is protecting our planet for the future generations. We must think of the future when talking about sustainability so that they may have natural resources as well.

Week 2 (what is sustainability?)
What is sustainability? Maintaining the world we live in. Sustainability is recognising our responsibility for the use of the natural resources on earth, so there is plenty of resources left for generations to come. Sustainability also means that there is limited resources being exploited out of existence. This is the action of maintaining the natural resources forever. An example of unsustainable resources is plastic, not only is plastic unsustainable it takes billions of years to break down this product and it also can not be recycled. You can help though! Just by changing a few little things you can help make our world a greener place! Lifestyle: instead of using those cheap plastic bags that often rip and break you can switch these out for reusable cloth bags. Fixing: instead of throwing away old clothes sew the clothing back together or donate them to a second hand store so they can have a second life. Needs and wants: ask yourself when buying products, Do I need this or do I want this ? Recycle: before throwing things away how would I be able to reuse this? Could I compost my scraps ? I believe sustainability starts with you! Think globally, act locally.
Sustainability is based on preserving the environment and resources so the generations to come have resources and mineral to use. The idea of being sustainable has been around for years but has become a large trend and has spiked in popularity in recent years. People are being sustainable in many ways from council enforced recycling, up-cycling and genius people trying to find new, innovative and thoughtful ways of being sustainable and reducing their carbon omissions. Technological and scientific advancements allowing there to be more resources for future generations.
Examples of companies and corporations attempting to be more sustainable is Tesla with their electric cars, another example is all grocery store around Australia stopping the sale of thin plastic bags and replacing them with reusable fabric bags. Although this solution caused confusion and rebuttal across Australia the grocery stores stood by the governments decision and continued to stop the sale of free plastic bags. The decision to stop the thin plastic bags was in an attempt to save the environment from people who litter the bags and ending up collecting in areas or in the ocean therefor damaging the environment. Tesla building electric cars is an in an effort to savour the limited resources that we have on this earth. The resources their trying to save on is wasting petroleum or gasoline by using electric power instead of these wasteful resources which need to be mine from beneath the earths crust just to power cars and machinery in the world. By doing this Tesla is trying to stop carbon omissions by the burning of fossil fuels. Although currently Tesla’s products are incredibly expensive and only the more upper-class can afford to purchase these vehicles as the population and technologies advance the products high price point should drop significantly over time.
Sustainability is very broad topic and can be define in a verity of ways. There are also a verity of ways to be sustainable, many corporations are trying to be sustainable or more eco-friendly. There are different aspects of being sustainable including: up-cycling, recycling and being energy efficient, all of these methods are designed to make limited resources last as long as possible.
The term ‘sustainable development’ was used by the Brundtland Commission (1987) which coined what has become the most often-quoted definition of sustainable development “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
What is sustainability? Sustainability by its own definition is “avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance” this means that there are strategies that need to be put foward to avoid any definite natural resources from being depleted
There are many definitions for sustainability but one that is refereed back to is “Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Other definitions of sustainability say the same thing along the lines of the definition that was just mentioned. There are definitions of sustainability for the Environment, the economy and social sustainability. For environmental it is “the ability to maintain rates of renewable resource harvest, pollution creation, and non-renewable resource depletion that can be continued indefinitely.”, for Economic it is "the ability to support a defined level of economic production indefinitely." and for social it is "ability of a social system, such as a country, to function at a defined level of social wellbeing indefinitely."

What is sustainability
Sustainability is the ability to maintain a sustainable and healthy environment (social and economic). Being sustainable is to do simple things like saving power and putting your rubbish in the right bins. Doing a simple task like this can change a lot. People these days are polluting at really high rates as well. There are many things that can also be done to stop us polluting the earth such as, using environmentally friendly items, pick up after your animals, recycle everything that can be and wash the car on your lawn. Doing the simple and easy task can go a long way in helping our earth. The reason most people don’t do this is mainly because of laziness or they can just not be bothered to do them. Sustainability is also saving power and energy; many people leave lights on in their houses even when they are not in the room. There are also some other things you could be doing to help this cause as well. Many people use solar or wind energy instead which is a really sustainable option. These two options are the most popular of the sustainable options for energy. Being sustainable provides environmental protection, social development and economic development.
